This brilliant book details all about mining and shopkeeping and it also shows how unfairly the miners were treated. As well as being an historical book it is also a great novel to read. It is about a boy who goes to Ballarat with his mother. She heard that there were lots of people there and thought that she could make money as a storekeeper. It is set at the time of the Eureka Stockade. This makes it an exciting read. 

The book is very well  written. It drew me in and one night I stayed up till 11 o’clock to read it. It has a lot of cliffhangers. 

Many of the characters show PLAs such as courage and resilience from the miners. Many of the storekeepers and people not involved in the fighting showed PLAs but these were a different category like  knowledge. I would highly recommend it to the ages 8-15 because it is a bit of a hard read. 

Have you heard story’s about the goldfields. Well if you have I bet you wouldn’t have heard that the aboriginals played a massive part in mining. The miners would not have survived without the aboriginals hunting for them giving them info on where to find gold. The aboriginals where not interested in gold but they did mine greenstone to build axes. The miners paid the aboriginals back for helping them by taking there stuff and putting it in museums to show that there culture was not superior to them. This picture shows what happened to aboriginals fo helping them. Reduced to begging for food in exchange for collecting firewood.

This year we where told to build an avatar but I chose to keep my old one. It looks kind of like me and has things that represent stuff I like . The glasses 👓  represent my sense of Humour. The stars around my head  represent my imagination. 

Library reflection

This term in library I have enjoyed reading books from the fantasy genre, especially the ones bye Rick Rioden. I like these books because they make me tune out of every thing else. They also make me wish I was in there world, Then I stop reading to realise that I’m still on earth. Depressing. 

I have a  recommendation to make, you have to read the Percy Jackson Series it hooks you in and has an incredible storyline.  This is about the Greek mythes and has actual facts from it. It is about ancient history but set in the present. 

My bookchat book is The Explorer. It is about four children when there plane crashed. They are forced to survive but they soon discover there’re not alone.

How to play Math  War 

You will need a 

1. Deck of cards
2. Two players only

How to play

1. Take out Jack, Queens, Kings and Jokers 
2. Half the deck; each player gets half 
3. On the count of three each put 1 card down 
4. Then Multiply the numbers
5. Whoever says the answer first gets both of the cards
6. Put them to the side 
7. Continue playing until you run out of cards.

Whoever has the most cards wins

Front desk characters

The front desk is a book from the global read aloud, it!s and interesting book about a girl who is an immigrant from China and she’s poor. Her family get a job as manger at a motel but the owner is mean and rips them off. Today I will be talking about the Personality of  three of characters. 

 Main character: Mia

She is very brave and she stands up to bully’s. She also works at the motel with her parents. She always goes to knew schools but at the school she’s at now might have a best friend for her. 

Owner of motel: Mr Yao 

Mr Yao is mean and tries to rip Mia and her family off their profit. He has a son and he is mean and a daddy’s boy. Even though Mia saves him from bullies he is still mean to them. 

Mia’s best friend: Lupe 

She is nice I know this because she came up Mia and was friendly and kind. She has three dogs. She also has a trampoline and can do flips. We don’t know much about her but I think she’s nice.
